Products and availability

Review the product information, quantities and delivery details before payment. Product availability and prices are checked when a payment order is prepared. An item in your basket is not a promise that it remains available indefinitely.

Food packaging, ingredients and allergens can change. Read the actual packaging before consuming a product and contact us about discrepancies. We will address inaccurate information and your statutory rights remain unaffected; this is not an exclusion of responsibility for goods being as described.

Prices, payment and order confirmation

Website prices and checkout totals are in pounds sterling. Hungry Expats is not VAT-registered and does not charge UK VAT. Delivery is shown separately before payment and the final total is displayed for review. PayPal handles payment; completing its payment process authorises payment of that total.

The agreed transaction is recorded using the validated product prices and delivery selection. Later catalogue edits do not rewrite an existing paid order. We confirm your order after payment has been verified and a permanent order record has been created, providing an order number and confirmation. If payment has been received but confirmation is delayed, contact us rather than paying again.

Delivery and custom quotes

UK and international DHL-based options depend on the destination and order. Remote areas may have a different available service or price. Review the available option and total at checkout.

Large orders, or orders without an automatic delivery option, need a separate delivery quote. A custom quote is accepted through its secure access flow, is tied to the specified customer, items and destination, and has an expiry. A cancelled, expired or already-used quote cannot be used for a new order.

See Delivery & Returns for recipient details, delivery estimates and support.

International orders

Destinations may restrict the import of particular foods. Check local restrictions before ordering and contact us if unsure. Customs clearance can delay delivery.

Destination-country customs duties, import VAT or other taxes, carrier fees, quarantine charges and similar import charges may apply. They are normally imposed by destination authorities or carriers and are separate from Hungry Expats checkout charges unless we explicitly state otherwise. You may be required to pay those charges before the parcel is released.

This does not exclude our responsibilities or your remedies under consumer law. Contact us about a disputed charge or delivery problem; no blanket disclaimer removes your statutory rights.

Cancelling, returns and refunds

For eligible distance purchases, you can notify us of cancellation within 14 days after receiving the goods and then have a further 14 days to return them. For separately delivered goods in one order, the cancellation period normally runs from receipt of the last item. You can tell us by email or post with your name, order number and cancellation request; no special wording is required.

Change-of-mind cancellation does not apply to goods liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly, or sealed goods unsuitable for return for health/hygiene reasons once unsealed, where that exception legally applies. This is not a blanket exclusion for all food. Rights for faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods remain.

Eligible cancellation refunds include the basic delivery cost, not the extra cost of an upgraded option. Refunds use the original payment method unless you agree otherwise, with no refund administration fee. We may wait for returned goods or evidence of return; the statutory refund deadline then applies. Excess handling beyond what is needed to inspect goods can affect an eligible refund where the law permits.

See Delivery & Returns for cancellation contacts, refund deadlines and return-cost information. Asking for safe return instructions does not require our permission to exercise a statutory cancellation right.

Problems and liability

Contact us if goods are damaged, incorrect, faulty or not as described. We will assess the appropriate statutory remedy, including refund, replacement or repair where applicable. Reasonable evidence helps us investigate but does not replace your legal rights.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, or liability for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence. We remain responsible for losses for which consumer law makes us liable. No blanket disclaimer transfers the risk of carrier loss to you.

Privacy and applicable law

See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Northern Ireland law is the proposed governing law, without removing mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence or your right to bring proceedings in a court available under applicable law.
